It’s that beautiful time of year again. The birds are chirping the flowers are blooming and spring is in the air! Many are beginning their spring cleaning rituals by pressure washing their houses and walkways, planting flowers, and spreading new mulch to spruce up their homes. A few may even be considering a home remodel or new outdoor living space. When we begin projects in our home, I like to research every detail and learn about the latest products available that will best meet our needs, and of course, how to get the best possible price. One of my favorite and most efficient ways to accomplish this is to spend a fun afternoon with my family attending the North Central Florida Home & Garden Show. It’s a great way to save time and gas having hundreds of exhibitors in one convenient location. It’s full of fantastic ideas on how you can improve your home, both inside and out.
The fifteenth annual Home & Garden Show is a local, two-day event held right here in Gainesville at UF’s Stephen C. O’Connell Center on March 15th and 16th. The Show is presented by the Builders Association of N. Central Florida and The Gainesville Sun and will feature products and services related to home improvement & electronics, landscaping, remodeling, decorating, energy conservation and home sales. Bosshardt Realty Services and Alarion Bank will be there as well if you have any real estate questions or financial needs. In addition to the many home and garden exhibits, the Home Show will also have informational seminars, prizes & giveaways, how-to clinics and a farmers market.
“The Home & Garden Show is unique in that it provides an opportunity for people to get new home improvement ideas, to have landscaping and remodeling questions answered and to see the latest home products all in one place and all at one time,” said Vinnie Moreschi, BANCF President. Whether you’re looking for community services such as a cable television or phone provider, interested in how to make your home more eco-friendly, or even adopting a new pet for the family, these services are all available under one roof.
Since we moved into our home four years ago, we have taken on a home improvement project or two each year. This year we are contemplating new insulated windows or possibly new backyard landscaping to clean up the area around where the pool was installed. We would like to do so much we just don’t know where to begin. Maybe we should be considering a new roof since ours is 18 years old? A roof is just no fun, I’m sure that can wait. What I do know is that all the answers to my questions will be answered at the Home Show this weekend.
The Home Show will be open from 10 am to 5 pm on Saturday and 11 am to 5 pm on Sunday afternoon. Admission is $4.00 per person with children 16 & under free. A Home Show guide will be inserted in the March 15th edition of The Gainesville Sun and will list attending exhibitors. I hope to see you there while I’m gathering information on our next home project
