    May has arrived and so has the beautiful weather. There are so many exciting events taking place right here in Gainesville, no gassing up the car necessary. So gather up your loved ones and enjoy all our community has to offer.

    May 1st
    Gator Stompin’: Begins at Bo Diddley Community Plaza
    6 pm – 2 am

    Gator Stompin‘® has been a rite of passage in Gainesville for over 30 years. At the end of every spring, people from all over come together to celebrate being part of the Gator Nation. The Official Gator Stompin’ t-shirt grants you access to 85 of Gainesville’s best nightclubs, bars and restaurants where you are treated to amazing drinks, delicious food and live music! Don’t miss what the Independent Florida Alligator ranked as one of the top ten things to do before leaving Gainesville!

    Frogs & Friends: Morningside Nature Park

    Join the fun, get the facts! Youngsters, with an adult, can join a Morningside Nature Center animal caretaker for an exciting and FREE educational program featuring live amphibians and reptiles

    Salsa de Mayo First Friday: Downtown Gainesville
    5 pm – 10 pm
    Celebrate summer with a plethora of yummy ripe tomatoes, avocados, and mangos, just dying to be sliced, diced, and enjoyed at First Friday. Giant salsa contest with lots of cool prizes, salsa dancing with local dance instructors; live Spanish guitarists to serenade you while you salsa; Mexican food featured at designed downtown restaurants.

    12th Annual Gainesville Jazz festival: Tioga Town Center
    7 pm – 11 pm

    Gainesville Friends of Jazz presents popular local Jazz musicians at the 12th annual Gainesville Jazz Festival.

    Moonlight Walk: Kanapaha Botanical Gardens
    7 pm

    Kanapaha’s Moonlight Walk is a magical experience where there will be twinkle lights, lanterns, and approximately 1500 luminaries along a 1.25 mile walkway. There will also be live entertainment, food, and refreshments.

    Greater Gator Scavenger Hunt: Flavet Field

    As a part of International Gator Day, the Titletown Gators are hosting the Greater Gator Scavenger Hunt!

    Teams of Gators will gather goods across Gainesville for points! Items will be donated to various charitable organizations throughout the community to win amazing prizes. Prizes include cruises for two to the Bahamas, restaurant gift certificates, tickets to the Hippodrome cinema, and more!

    Ask a Scientist: International Museum Day: Florida Museum of Natural History
    1 pm – 4 pm

    Science is all around you! Take advantage of this opportunity to talk one-on-one with Museum researchers. Bring your questions and find answers during an afternoon of discovery and learning celebrating museums.

    The Bob Rose Golf Scramble: Haile Plantation Golf & Country Club
    11 am – 7 pm

    Join The Arc of Alachua County for its largest fundraising event of the year…and one of the most fun! Compete for a huge grand prize while helping out a great cause. There will be a shotgun start, lots of food and drinks, and fun for everyone including an exciting auction.

    Lukes Way Recovery Run 5K: Gale Lemerand Commuter Lot
    This is the First Annual Luke’s Way Race for Recovery 5K/1M Fun Run. This will benefit the efforts of Luke’s Way to provide Locomotor Training to children and young adults with neuromuscular disorders.
